What Factor Need to Pay Attention When Install a Fuse Cutout
1: Preparation for installing accessories
Before installing a drop-out fuse, we need to prepare the following materials: drop-out fuse, insulating gloves, insulating screwdrivers, wire plugs and other tools.
2: Select the installation location
- It should be selected at the beginning or end of the circuit.
- The closer to the load, the better.
- The installation position cannot be too high, otherwise it will cause harm to the human body after the fuse trips.
- Avoid humid or corrosive places
3: Installation instructions
- Drop-out fuses generally need to be installed outdoors. The installationshould be firm and reliable, and there should be no shaking.
- The installation position of the drop-out fuse shall be on a cross arm or special frame whose vertical height from the ground shall not be less than 4m.
- If it is installed above the distribution transformer, a horizontal distance of 0.5m or more from the outer contour boundary of the distribution transformer should be maintained to prevent other accidents caused by the falling fuse tube.
- The length of the fuse tube should be adjusted appropriately. It is required that the tongue can hold more than two-thirds of the contact length after closing, so as to avoid malfunction of falling on its own during operation. The fused tube must not push the tongue too tight, to avoid fuse tube cannot falling timely after the fuse link melts.
- The drop-out fuse should have an inclination angle of about 15°to 30°with the high-voltage vertical down conductor to ensure that the fuse tube can fall by its own weight when the fuse link melts.
- When wiring, the upper contact of the drop-out fuse should be connected to the power supply side, and the lower contact should be connected to the load side of the power distribution equipment. Do not reverse the upper and lower contacts of the drop-out fuse.
- The fuse link used must be a qualified product produced by a regular manufacturer and must have a certain mechanical strength. Wheninstalled, the fuse link should be tightened to prevent the contact from heating and burning due to poor contact.
- Inspection and testing
After the drop-out fuse is installed, it needs to be tested to ensure that it works properly.
- Turn on the power and check whether the drop-out fuse is connected normally.
- Test whether there is current flowing in the circuit.
- Deliberately create a fault, check whether the fuse can trip normally, and protect the circuit.
Drop-out fuses play a very important protective role in the power system, so their installation should be carried out in accordance with relevant standards. Only by ensuring the integrity and stability of drop-out fuses can we better protect power equipment and power systems’ normal operation.
